Virgil Zane was Wadsworth Zane's second grand-half-uncle, once removed.[1] He ran Zane's Antiques & Antiquities in Broodhollow. The store was left to Wadsworth in his will and was the only item listed. Virgil died prior to April 3, 1933, as that was the date of the reading of his will.[1]

Note: the year of death was determined by the notification stating the reading of the will would be on April 3rd, six months before it reached Wadsworth, and the first newspaper Wadsworth read after arriving at Broodhollow was dated November 12, 1933.
